COVID Procedures and Protocols
Please know safety is a main point of concern for us and we have made many changes to our processes to make you feel as safe and as comfortable as possible. In implementing these changes, we have drawn on guidance provided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as well as several county and regional health authorities. We have also received counsel from legal and janitorial professionals and incorporated many of their suggestions into our plans
Michigan Dance Alliance will resume in-person classes starting Tuesday, September 8. In following with the governors latest executive order, MDA will require all students to wear a mask to enter the building and children over the age of 5 to continue wearing their mask during instruction.
A. Entry Process
In an effort to reduce congestion and promote social distancing, dancers will enter through the exterior door of their corresponding dance room (A, B, C, or D). Upon entry, each student will have their temperature taken and use hand sanitizer. If the student has a temperature above 100.4, they will not be allowed to enter. Once inside your dance room, you will notice some new directional signage that prompts you to walk along fixed pathways to your destination. This has been done in an effort to limit your contact with other individuals in the dance room and to promote social distancing. Students will place their dance bags at the front of the class behind the tape line and proceed to their assigned floor marking. Each marking is at least 6ft apart to ensure social distancing.
B. MDA Common Areas and Amenity Spaces
For the time being, all common areas and amenity spaces in our building, including the main lobby, dancer cubbies, study area, kitchen, and play area will remain closed to minimize touch points. You will also notice signage in our building’s entryway that displays the CDC’s hygiene guidelines. We must observe the requirement to wear a face mask and distance ourselves at least six (6) feet away from others whenever we are in the building.
C. Bathrooms/Drinking Fountains
All bathrooms in Michigan Dance Alliance will remain open, but we ask that dancers use the bathroom one at a time. This must be done in order to maintain the CDC’s recommended distancing protocols. Drinking fountains will be turned off in the building until further notice. Signage will be placed above or beside each drinking fountain to indicate its closure. Hand sanitizing stations have been positioned near the entrance as well as at other strategic locations throughout Michigan Dance Alliance. For the benefit of all, please do not move them.
D. Cleaning
We routinely deep-clean Michigan Dance Alliance with CDC-approved disinfectants. In addition, we also implemented new cleaning procedures that requires more frequent cleaning of dance floors, bathrooms, and high touch surface areas. Extra attention will be paid to high touched surfaces including light switches, door handles, handrails, toilets, and faucets.
E. HVAC
Our HVAC company assessed our building and provided us with strategies for increasing outside air ventilation and filtration in accordance with guidance provided by the CDC and OSHA. All of our buildings HVAC units are subject to routine cleaning and maintenance.
F. Student Expectations at MDA
Students in the studio can impact the environment for others. We request that students act responsibly at all times when in Michigan Dance Alliance, by maintaining proper social distance, wearing face masks and other appropriate personal protection equipment while entering and exiting the building, following the CDC’s guidelines for personal hygiene, limiting face-to-face conversations, and limiting the sharing of personal items and equipment. Failure to comply with the guidelines we have laid out can result in removal from class, an involuntary 14-day quarantine, and up to removal from the studio.
G. Emergency Response
Michigan Dance Alliance requests that all dance families and instructors notify us by calling 734.392.7977 or emailing jdeane@michigandancealliance.com any time you or a member of your household either displays symptoms of COVID-19 or is diagnosed with the virus. We will determine whether health agencies and other building occupants must be notified of the incident and will work to determine proper cleaning protocols for any and all affected areas.
